Cellulite Treatments and Exercises

September 28th, 2012

Cellulite treatments or cellulite exercises? What’s the most effective way of dealing with those dreaded orange peel thighs, bums and tums?

The truth is simple. There’s more than one way to tackle cellulite, and combining the latest in anti-cellulite treatments with exercises that target problem areas is the best way to get rid of cellulite and keep it off.

So many women of all shapes and sizes are bothered by cellulite.Thankfully there are a range of effective treatments and exercises that can help eliminate those unwanted lumps and bumps.

Let’s take a look at a few cellulite blasting exercises you can try at home…

Cellulite Treatments and Exercises A few simple changes in your diet and exercise routine can make all the difference when battling cellulite. Increase water intake, eat healthy, unprocessed foods and try these easy toning exercises.

  • Walking – We all know that 30 minutes walking every day is great for weight loss and general wellbeing, but it’s also great for tightening legs, thighs and buttocks and getting rid of cellulite. Try to walk a route with some challenges, like steep inclines and steps, and make your strides as long as possible. Keep a fast pace going and finish with lots of stretches. Stretches not only help to warm down the body after exercise and prevent strains or injuries, they also help the body continue to burn fat.

  • Lunges – Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and hands on hips. Take a large step forward with one foot and drop the knee of the other leg down to the floor. Hold the position then push up and repeat with the other leg. Do at least 10 lunges for each leg. This is a great exercise for stretching and toning legs, bum and hips.

  • Thigh raise – Lie on your stomach with your head resting on crossed arms. Lift your legs from just above your knees until your feet are a few inches off the ground. Hold the position for as long as you can then slowly lower your legs. Repeat several times. You can also try resting on elbows and knees then slowly raising a leg to about 45 degrees with your heel facing towards the ceiling. Hold that position then slowly lower your leg and repeat several times. Then do the same with the other leg. These types of intensive stretches are typical of pilates exercises. Pilates is great for stretching and toning muscle and eliminating excess fat so join a regular class in your neighbourhood if you can.

Combine these exercises with some highly effective cellulite treatments. Here’s what we offer at La Spa…

  • Endermologie is a procedure that involves massaging the fatty deposits that cause cellulite in order to separate the fat from muscle while stimulating blood flow and lymphatic drainage.

  • High concentrations of minerals and vitamins present in a seaweed bath will make skin smooth and tight and is a deeply relaxing and invigorating experience.

  • Fisioline is an anti-cellulite lotion with a patented new ‘crackle technology’ that when absorbed into the skin blasts away cellulite. It’s a pleasant sensation and leaves skin toned and smooth and best of all, cellulite free.

For a more detailed look at what these treatments involve see our blog on cellulite treatments available at our Dublin spa.

By combining a healthy diet and regular targeted exercises with our highly effective cellulite treatments you can soon be toned and terrific!

What cellulite treatments are available at a spa in Dublin?

September 22nd, 2012

Did you know that you don’t need to visit a cosmetic clinic when you’re looking for an effective cellulite treatment? Here at La Spa Therapie, a luxurious day spa in Dublin, our cellulite blasting treatments are highly effective at eliminating cellulite and toning and tightening skin without using invasive cosmetic procedures or paying overly expensive clinic prices.

Cellulite Treatments in DublinAnd one of the best reasons to visit a spa instead of a clinic for a cellulite treatment is the ambient spa experience. Here at La Spa Therapie in Malahide, Dublin, we offer our clients a tranquil and calming environment to find peace and quiet as well as beauty. Not only do we provide professional cellulite treatments of a clinical standard we also allow our guests to unwind in a space of comfort and relaxation.

Let’s take a look at the cellulite treatments available at La Spa and how they work. Our treatments include endermologie, seaweed baths and the newest cellulite treatment sensation, Fisioline.

Also known as lipomassage this is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that involves massaging the fatty deposits that cause cellulite in order to separate the fat from muscle while stimulating blood flow and lymphatic drainage.

The two rollers on the massage machine create a gentle suction action that makes a fold when rolled over the skin. This folding action stretches the connective tissue which stimulates the cells responsible for burning fat and evacuating toxins. In this way the Endermologie or lipomassage technique is also great for detoxification of the body as well as for cellulite reduction. The sensation of the rolling massage machine is very therapeutic and feels much like a deep massage.

Seaweed baths

Seaweed is nature’s miracle beauty treatment. Seaweed has long been renowned for its high concentrations of minerals, vitamins and iodine which when applied to the skin make it smooth and tight. The electrolytic magnetic action present in seaweed forces excess body fluids from congested cells and breaks up fatty waste deposits through skin pores. In addition to ridding the body of toxins and fatty deposits the seaweed replaces depleted minerals such as potassium and iodine which boosts thyroid activity and helps to maintain adrenal and hormonal balance. Seaweed baths are deeply relaxing and highly beneficial at removing cellulite and making your body healthy and toned looking.

The latest in cellulite cosmetic technology, Fisioline combines all the best qualities of anti-cellulite creams and adds its own patented ‘crackle technology’ which expedites the effectiveness of these treatments – meaning real results real fast. Within seconds of application the Fisioline cream is absorbed into the skin where it blasts away cellulite from the epidermis. The cream contains green tea which is known for its anti-oxidant properties, aloe, which is soothing on skin, as well as various natural properties to stimulate metabolism, drainage and reactivate micro circulation.

Cellulite Remedies for Home and Spa

September 14th, 2012

Treatments for cellulite are wide and varied and consist of everything from at-home scrubs to advanced spa treatments. We believe the best approach for permanent cellulite reduction and for an overall improvement in skin tone is to combine regular home care with a healthy lifestyle and a course of highly effective targeted cellulite treatments at a day spa.

Cellulite Removal Remedy for Home and SpaWhat is cellulite and what causes it?

Scientifically speaking, cellulite is a group of fatty cells, separated with fibrous strands, which form together in the skin’s middle layer and pull on the skin’s connective tissue, which is what causes cellulite’s bumpy, dimpled appearance.

But what causes these fat cells to group together and wreak havoc on our tums, thighs and bums? Well, the jury is still out on that. For some women it’s lifestyle. An unhealthy diet and lack of exercise means excess weight, and inevitably, cellulite. For some women it’s hormonal. Fluctuating levels of estrogen and other hormones throughout lifecycles can make drastic changes to our bodies. But for many women cellulite seems to be a genetic trait. Women of all ages and sizes are simply predisposed to having cellulite because it’s been handed down over generations.

Whatever the cause, cellulite is a fact of life for most of the world’s women. 90% of women over 35 have cellulite.

The only way to deal with the ‘orange peel’ curse is to take matters into our own hands!

Here are a few popular ways many women deal with cellulite both at home and at the spa.

Home Cellulite Removal

  • Apple cider vinegar – It’s believed that drinking a mix of pure apple cider vinegar and water every day or mixing the vinegar with massage oil and rubbing onto the skin can reduce the appearance of cellulite.

  • Coffee Sugar Scrub – Mixing ½ cup of coffee grounds, ¼ cup of brown sugar and massaging with olive oil is believed to enhance fat metabolism and remove fat and liquid from skin.

  • Bathing rituals – Brushing skin with a natural plant fibre brush before getting in the bath or shower helps stimulate blood and lymph flow. Finish the shower with a burst of cold water to improve skin tone. After bathing apply an essential oil blend on key circulatory and lymphatic stimulation points including the top of the thighs and back of the knees.

Spa Cellulite Treatments

  • Endermologie – This non-invasive procedure slims, sculpts and firms for proven, long-lasting results. The Endermologie machine massages fatty deposits, stimulating blood flow and lymphatic drainage while separating fat from muscle.

  • Seaweed baths – Seaweed is renowned for its anti-cellulite and skin toning minerals and vitamins. Follow a seaweed bath with a dip in an ice bath to stimulate circulation and increase metabolism.

  • Fisioline – A new anti-cellulite cream that gets massaged into problem areas where the active ingredients blast cellulite from the epidermis.

What causes cellulite?

August 31st, 2012

Cellulite – those lumpy, dimply areas around thighs, tums and bums – affects most women at some point in their lives. But what causes cellulite and how can it be treated?

Cellulite, commonly referred to as ‘orange peel skin’ can be caused by a number of factors; some are within our control and can be prevented or treated with a healthy diet and moderate exercise. But sometimes the condition is an unfortunate genetic gift, or a side effect of hormonal fluctuations.

Let’s break these causes down and hopefully help you understand where your cellulite problem (if you have one) may be coming from.

Cellulite Treatments in DublinGenetics

Certain genes are predisposed to cellulite development. Characteristics associated with cellulite such as slow metabolism, circulatory inefficiency or the distribution of fat just beneath the skin may be something your mother, grandmother and her mother before her suffered from. Whereas those ladies may have been more stoical about their condition, thankfully these days you don’t have to put up with cellulite thanks to a wide range of affordable treatments.

Those good old hormones ebb and flow with age and can have a profound impact on our health and wellbeing. Many medical experts believe hormones such as estrogen, insulin, noradrenaline, thyroids and prolactin play a role in the development of cellulite.

Poor diets, including eating too much sugary and fatty foods and not getting enough exercise, can either be a cause or contributing factor of cellulite. Whether your condition is brought about by genetic or hormonal factors, certainly a healthy diet and regular toning exercises will help reduce its appearance.

But sometimes improving lifestyle habits is simply not enough. That’s where the La Spa range of cellulite-blasting treatments come in!

If you’re looking for real solutions to getting rid of cellulite come and see us at La Spa Therapie in Malahide. Here is a quick look at some of the anti-cellulite treatments we provide which can help.

This treatment has been scientifically proven to remove cellulite without surgery or any kind of invasive procedure. The Endermologie machine massages fat deposits, stimulating blood flow and lymphatic drainage in order to slim, sculpt and firm skin.

Seaweed baths

With their high concentrations of minerals, vitamins and iodine, seaweed baths are renowned for their anti-cellulite properties. You can also combine the seaweed bath with an ice bath which greatly helps accelerate cellulite reduction.

The Fisioline cellulite shock treatment is a revolutionary anti-cellulite lotion with patented ‘cellulite crackle’ technology. When massaged into the skin the active ingredients blast away cellulite deposits.

Getting rid of cellulite at last!

August 24th, 2012

For a long time many people had accepted that getting rid of cellulite was a hopeless task and that the lumpy, bumpy fat that develops around hips, thighs and bums and affects more than 90% of women over 35 was just one of those things. Some women had cellulite, some lucky women didn’t. It was like natural selection.

Cellulite RemovalWomen dreamed cellulite removal was possible but unless you were rich and knew a good plastic surgeon, there was simply nothing you could do to get rid of those lumpy dimples around your curves.

Thankfully those “oh well, sure what can you do about it?” days are over. Now you can get rid of cellulite and keep it off without spending a fortune – and you can do it all from the comfort of your local spa.

Here at La Spa Therapie in Dublin we offer a range of cellulite-blasting treatments for every woman – whatever your budget, requirements or treatment preferences.

Cellulite removal treatments available at La Spa…

Endermologie is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure to remove cellulite. It slims, sculpts and firms problem areas and provides proven, long-lasting results. The Endermologie massage machine massages the fatty deposits in your problem areas, stimulating blood flow and lymphatic drainage and separating fat from muscle.

Seaweed baths are renowned for their anti-cellulite properties. They have high concentrations of minerals, vitamins and iodine, which make skin toned, smooth and tight. If you’re feeling brave (or determined) enough you should also include an exhilarating dip into our ice bath after the seaweed bath. The change in temperature stimulates circulation and increases metabolism which helps prevent fatty deposits from returning.

Fisioline’s ‘cellulite crackle’ treatment is brand new cosmetic technology. When massaged into your trouble spots the active ingredients blast away cellulite from the epidermis. This amazing new product works within the very first minutes of application.

La Spa’s range of cellulite removal treatments are designed to suit all types of women and all budgets. Colonics FAQ Part Two

August 21st, 2012

Colonic Irrigation Hydrotherapy FAQA couple of weeks ago we answered a few common questions about colonic hydrotherapy (also known as colonic irrigation or colonic cleansing). Because this treatment can be quite nervewracking for first timers we really wanted to answer as many questions as possible.

So here are a few more Frequently Asked Questions about colonics…

Is a colonic irrigation treatment expensive?

Well, it’s not cheap. But a treatment which involves flushing away a lifetime’s build up of impacted fecal matter from your colon, supercharging your digestive system and improving your overall health shouldn’t be cheap. If you see a clinic advertising ‘cheap’colon cleansing run in the opposite direction.

Our prices at La Spa aren’t ‘cheap’ but they are very reasonable when compared with exclusive 5-star spas. A session costs €90, a course of three costs €230 and a course of 6 colonic treatments costs €450

What’s actually involved in a colonic cleanse?

First, you lay down on a hygenic custom-made treatment table. Then, a thin tube is inserted carefully into the rectum and warm filtered water is gently pumped into the colon. The therapist gently massages your stomach to encourage movement and after a short time the impacted fecal matter is flushed through the tube into a sterilised waste unit. A session lasts around 45 minutes and in that time you should pass the equivalent of 20-30 regular bowel movements.

Is colonic irrigation painful?

For first timers the sensation will seem strange and a little uncomfortable, but it won’t be painful. Many people come to find the treatment deeply relaxing and report feeling refreshed and energised afterwards.

Isn’t a detox diet just as effective as a colonics treatment?

Detox diets like juice fasts are designed to eliminate toxins from your body and lose weight fast. People usually undergo a quick-fix detox diet after an overly-indulgent weekend or to shift a few kilos before a big event. A colonic irrigation cleanse on the other hand is a longer term solution, removing toxic waste collected in the colon that detox diets can’t shift, and restoring and improving overall digestive health.

What do I need to do to prepare for a colonics irrigation hydrotherapy?

When you come for a colonic it’s best to be as relaxed as possible, so give yourself plenty of time to rest before your treatment. Drink plenty of water and eat light, nourishing meals in the lead up to the treatment like raw vegetables – this will help to loosen colon waste and kick-start the detox process. Avoid dairy products, red meat, shell fish, processed carbohydrates or fried and sugary foods.
We hope we’ve been able to answer all your colonics FAQs. If we haven’t answered your question please leave a comment on our blog or Facebook page. You can also find more information about our colonic irrigation treatments here.

Colonics FAQ Part One

August 3rd, 2012

We’ve been talking quite a bit over the last couple of months about colonic irrigation at La Spa – the benefits, what to expect and so on – and a lot of questions have cropped up about the treatment along the way.

Colonic Irrigation FAQSo over the next couple of blogs we thought we’d address some of those questions – from the delicate details of what’s involved in a treatment to how colonics can help improve your health and vitality and even aid in weightloss, and those bigger questions like just who has colonics and why?

So, first things first…

What is a colonic irrigation?

Also known as colonic cleansing or colon hydrotherapy, colonic irrigation is the process of flushing impacted fecal matter and toxins from your colon with warm purified water, facilitating greater efficiency in the body’s eliminatory organs (lymph, lungs, kidneys and intestines). This process improves digestion and promotes overall wellbeing.

Why do people have a colonic cleanse?

The treatment is often praised for its effective treatment of ailments like irritable bowel, headache, backache, constipation, bloating, gas and even bad breath and body odour. As well as helping to relieve these conditions, many people report the cleanse helps with many other physical conditions and can also help with weight loss.

Is colonics just another fad?

Colon irrigation has been used as an alternative form of therapy for millenia. As early as 1500BC Egyptians used hollow reeds to induce water into the rectum as an enema. In the early 20th century John H Kellogg MD (he of the Cornflakes cereal empire) promoted the use of colonics with his patients. Today colonics is seeing a resurgence as people are taking greater responsibility for their own health and wellbeing and relying less on pharmaceutical medicines. The treatment is particularly popular amongst health-conscious celebs. Big Hollywood names like Madonna, Cindy Crawford, Britney Spears and Ben Affleck have all praised the cleansing and energising effects of a colon cleanse.

How can a colonics treatment improve my health and wellbeing?

Colonics improves your wellbeing by removing the impacted toxic waste that has built up in your colon over a lifetime. Years of fattening processed foods, sugary drinks and indigestible items block the natural flow of the colon, causing blockages and making us feel weak and sluggish. Colonics flush those blockages away and kickstarts your digestive system, getting it back to its fully-functioning best again.

Can colonics help me lose weight?

Although colonics is not primarily a weight loss treatment, it can help lose inches as part of a weightloss regime. Over a course of colonic hydrotherapy treatments many people find weight falling away due to improved colonic functioning and by naturally wanting to keep their colon in peak condition and eat more organic and healthy foods. For a deeper answer to this question check out our blog post on colon hydrotherapy and weight loss.

We hope part of this colonic irrigation FAQ answers some of your concerns about colonics. If you have any questions of your own post them on our Facebook page and we’ll answer more of your questions in our next post.

Top Treatments for removing Cellulite

July 27th, 2012

Have you ever thought about having a cellulite treatment? Here’s what you can expect!

Cellulite Treatments in DublinAs much as we love looking at trashy mags with pictures of celebs who are ‘Just Like Us!’ in all their lumpy-bumpy glory, we don’t really want to have the same sagging skin or dimpled thighs as those ‘circles of shame’.

Thankfully there are treatments and products we can use to eliminate most of our trouble spots, and cellulite is no different. Here at La Spa we have a range of services to help you be cellulite free once and for all!

What is cellulite?

Try and imagine this: We all have what’s like an invisible grid covering our bodies. In between each section of this grid lie clumps of fatty deposits. When we don’t exercise enough or overindulge in fattening foods, these fatty deposits swell and push up through the grid creating that bumpy ‘orange peel’ effect.

A cellulite treatment, or more realistically a course of cellulite treatments, target those fatty deposits, breaking them down and restoring firmness. To have a really good and long lasting cellulite removal effect, we recommend combining the treatment with a healthy lifestyle – both diet and exercise wise.

Cellulite treatments available at La Spa…

Endermologie/Lipomassage for cellulite removal

Endermologie, also known as Lipomassage, offers a scientifically proven solution to cellulite removal. It’s a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that slims, sculpts and firms problem areas for long-lasting results.

What does the Endermologie/Lipomassage cellulite removal treatment involve?
The mechanical Endermologie massage machine kneads and manipulates the fatty deposits that have accumulated in the deeper layers of the skin (the hypodermis), stimulating blood flow, encouraging lymphatic drainage and isolating fat from your muscles.

The therapist holds a device connected to the Endermologie machine that contains rollers moving in different directions and massages your problem areas for about 45 minutes. The amount of treatments you need will depend on your own personal goals. Your therapist can advise a course of treatments for you.

While Endermologie/Lipomassage is an effective solution to cellulite removal in its own right, results are significantly accelerated when combined with our Voya Hot Seaweed and Ice Bath therapy.

Seaweed/Ice baths for cellulite removal

Our Voya hot seaweed baths and ice baths help eradicate cellulite by introducing extreme temperatures to the body.

Seaweed Baths are renowned for their anti-cellulite properties with high concentrations of minerals, vitamins and iodine, which enter open pores leaving skin toned, smooth and tight. But add an exhilarating dip into an icy cold bath and you have a cellulite blasting super-treatment!

The sudden change from hot to cold kick starts your circulation; improving blood flow, boosting thyroid activity and increasing your metabolism, helping to prevent unwanted fatty deposits from returning.

Fisioline cellulite shock treatment

Now available at La Spa Therapie – Fisioline’s ‘cellulite crackle’ treatment: a revolutionary cosmetic technology that combats cellulite with amazing results.
Fisioline’s patented crackle technology® enhances the activity of the active ingredients in the epidermis within the very first minutes of application.

Over the course of a treatment period Fisioline can have the following positive effects:

  • reduction of the circumference of knees and thighs
  • improvement in the flow of subcutaneous blood in treated areas
  • reduction in skin imperfections and overall improvement of skin’s appearance
